Certification

GOAL
To increase the participation of farmers and enable them to benefit more by facilitating their access to the growing market of mainstream UTZ certified coffee. To help small/medium farmers to get UTZ certification and finding market for certified coffee.

OBJECTIVES
Higher income for the coffee farmers by means of certification and better adherence to social and environmental standards leading to improved living and working conditions of people working in the coffee fields.

DESCRIPTION
A group of small and medium farmers called Nedcommodities coffee grower's group was formed by Nedcommodities India Pvt Ltd in 2009 to facilitate the farmers to get UTZ cerified.

TARGET
We plan to certify about 6,500 mts of Utz certified coffee from Small and Medium farmers in Karantaka Coffee Growing region by year 2011. The entire cost of certification is supported by Solidaridad and Nedcommodities India Pvt Ltd for 3 years.
